Did you know you can click on the pictures I posted to see them in a larger size? I didn't.
Dan made great progress yesterday. He cut out a bunch of wall. It is hard to explain how this is going to work. He cut through the wall right next to where the stairs go up. It goes into the corner of Alec's room. So, we are taking a corner, maybe three feet by three feet out of his huge room. Then we went through the closet under the stairs and then into the den. There are actually three turns involved but it looks wide enough that you can walk a straight shot in. Oh, I know this is confusing. It is either going to be really cool or pretty weird. Dan thinks we can put a books shelf on one wall through this little passage way that can hide a secret spot under the stairs--one of those bookshelves that swings open. Alec and I would love some secret passage ways but this is about as close as we are getting. We saw a whole show about secret places in houses once and we just drooled. Anyway, Alec and Dan just took off to Lowe's to get the drywall and stuff. My guess is we might get all the painting down down stairs in the next week but the floors aren't happening yet. That's ok.
After the basement in done, we will come back up and finish the little boys' bathroom. It just needs a new tub, new mirrors (it has double sinks but the mirror is so small you only see half of yourself as you stand at the sinks) and the ceiling fixed. And then painted of course. After that, we'll really just be down the the living room, kitchen and our room and bath. Those are all huge jobs. Don't even want to think about them yet. And then there is fencing. And then roof and exterior. But that's all. HA! Maybe a new driveway? The joys of home ownership.
