The following is why I have a hard time picking out paint colors. I found a yellow that looked great in my kitchen--not too bright, just clear yellow. I slapped some of it in my laundry room to see if I liked it in there and it looked like day-glo freaky yellow. Like a totally different color. And then today, we were putting up Alec and Ian's bedroom colors in the living room to see if they'd work in there. Ian's bedroom color is a light green called Moss. We put it in the living room and, I am telling you, it looks aqua. He didn't even believe me when I told him it was his color. We chose our colors for the living room, boys' bath and laundry room. Finally!!!
So, we went out and bought the paint, a refrigerator, a microwave/fan for over the stove, faucet for the boys' tub and mirrors for over their sinks. Fridge is supposed to come tomorrow morning. Got home and took a nap. I take a nap most every day, now.
Evan's world map came today. He asked me for a world map so he could play on it with his soldiers, like the game Risk. I hopped right online and bought him one! He wants to play with a map--you bet I am getting him one!!
I am going to go help Adam make the recipe he wanted--it is a lime and pear gelatin salad--yuck.

How Did Friday Get Here Already?
Good night, I can't believe it is Friday. Dan had to work late last night, so we lost another night of work. Was hoping to get the boys' bathroom and the laundry room done by the end of this weekend. Not looking good. The problem is there aren't many things we can work on before Dan does things he that only he can do. I am sure he has had enough with house repair. We are so close and yet so far from being done.
Yesterday, we managed to make six meals to freeze, along with some bread dough, cookie dough, rice & hamburger. Have a bunch of bananas to make muffins. Maybe that will happen this weekend. Both Adam and Ian found recipes in books they would like me to make so that needs to happen, also. Oh, how I look forward to being through this time--so out of balance. I mean, we have a reason to be so, but it still is a stinky way to live.
Chiro today and then I think we are buying a new fridge. We will put the current one in the mudroom. I have to choose the paint colors for these next rooms we are painting TODAY--I have been putting that off. Also need to call to see what I need in order to obtain a birth certificate for this baby. Details, details...

Baking Party
Laura showed me this neat Milk and Cookies Party idea. How cute is that?
Margie is leaving to come down here a week from tomorrow. She is stopping the first night in Urbana, IL, which is where my pal Deb lives--how ironic. Don't forget my baby clothes, Marg!!
The plan today is to bake as much as we can stand today. Have stuff to make banana and zucchini bread or muffins, lasagna, chili, kielbasa and cookie dough. I think that is all. No way will we make all that but we will do what we can.
I am sooooo tired of working so much. So is Dan. He put in a new outside door downstairs last night, which was a mess. The guy had jimmie-rigged the original one, so it wasn't an easy replacement. Since he was busy, I put together the little night stand I bought at IKEA to go next to my rocking chair--no pieces of wood were marked; it was the most difficult piece of furniture I have ever assembled. I was all full of myself afterwards.
Someone go have some fun today and then tell me all about it.

The Old Gal Needs a Rest
We had our play date this morning. This mom is so nice--she lived in a planned community in Florida and had many friends. She got weepy talking about how hard it has been to leave to move up here. I felt bad for her. She has a five year old and a two year old so she is really in the thick of things right now in her parenting life. The kids played so well, I think we were both surprised.
After that nice time, we went to Walmart, which overwhelms me lately. I am trying to get some meals and such in the freezer so meals are easy after baby comes. Tomorrow, we'll stay home and do some baking (which makes so much sense, since it will be about 90). I have three days of doing too much. We will have to try to chill a little more tomorrow.
I am too tired to type more.

Return from IKEA
Wow--did we rock at IKEA. Ian and I got a dining table that opens to seat 10, eight chairs, two bar stools (needed four, but they only had two), a side table for my rocking chair and a huge mirror for over my dresser. I also found a huge armoire that would work perfectly in the kitchen for a pantry. We might have been able to fit that in the van, also, but I didn't want to push it. Turned out two chair were broken (!) so we need to take the back, get the stools and the armoire.
Alec and the little boys did fine--Alec was all ready for some alone time when we got home--he headed right down to his room! I took him out for an root beer float after Dan was home. Also, paid him, but the root beer float was fun. It was about 95 outside, so it was nice.
Dan and the older boys put together all the chairs and table. The curtains for our bedroom came today, also so we need to get those up. I am getting tired of buying stuff, in case you are wondering. We are getting close to being done.
Wednesday, the little boys and I are going to his bowling pal's house for a play date. Remember those? The older boys are staying home to work on Bible Bee stuff. That was another reason I took Alec out--that's two days of not seeing him too much. After our play time, we have to go grocery shopping--why do these people eat so much?!?!? Goodness, maybe Thursday, we can chill a little.

Happy Land of IKEA
I need a dining room table, so Ian and I are going with an emptied out van to IKEA up in Charlotte to see if we can get us one. Alec is going to get paid to babysit and I am giving him a bunch of things to do--I have some little crafty things I found on clearance at Walmart--oh, he is going to hate that. And then he is going to listen to them read for the Library reading program. Oh, won't they have fun?? Probably the little boys. Probably not the big boy.
It is supposed to be really hot today. We need to get that pool up but there are so many other things to get done, also. We can't spend the whole summer inside, but I think my people would be ok with that.
Alec offered to help me with the popcorn removal yesterday. We did the bathroom and as I cleaned that up, he did the laundry room. Dan slapped some mud up there and tonight will start sanding. The upstairs bathrooms didn't have fans, so he has to put those in. I STILL don't know what color we are painting the boys' bathroom. I am bringing up every can of paint I have and slapping some on the wall and then picking one and that is that.

Off and Running on Monday
I get to remove the popcorn off the boys' bathroom ceiling today. I know, you are jealous. They need a new tub (it is a one piece one with the walls attached and it has holes in it), new mirrors (double sinks--the mirror only reaches to half the sink) and paint. That doesn't seem like much. Would love to finish that and the laundry room this week--that just needs paint and new flooring. Ha--we will see what happens.
Signing the little boys up for the summer reading program today. Organizing the mudroom a little. I guess that is it for the day.
